GAME RULES
- The tournament will be played with hard tennis balls.
- All games will be knockout games
- Each team should have 11 players.
- There will be runs for each wide and no balls.
- Each bye, leg bye and overthrow run will be considered.
- LBW will not be considered as a wicket.
- Number of Overs per Bowler
- Bouncer allowance
There is a limit of one Bouncer per over. (Above the shoulder). Square Leg umpire must call this every time. Two such infractions in an over will be called a NO BALL.- The bouncer above the head will be called a WIDE BALL
- Above the waist No-Ball
A no-ball is a full-pitched above the waist. If a bowler bowls more than Three balls above the waist during the game, he will be taken off and will not be able to bowl again in that game.- Another bowler who has not bowled the previous over will complete the over
- No Ball Free Hit
The new rule now stipulates that for all infractions of NO BALL, a FREE HIT will be awarded. Example: Foot fault, above the waist balls, breaking of wickets when in bowling stride etc. - Field changes are only allowed if the non-striker is now on strike.
- Restrictions on the Placement of Fieldsmen
Fielding restrictions apply for the first 4 overs of each innings.- First 4 overs: A maximum of 2 fielders are allowed outside the 30 yards
non-power play: A Maximum of 5 fielders are allowed outside the 30 yards circle. - At all times, there must be a minimum of 4 fielders in the circle
- In circumstances when the number of overs of the batting team is reduced, the number of Fielding Restriction Overs shall be reduced in accordance with the table below. For the sake of clarity, it should be noted that the table shall apply to both the 1st and 2nd innings of the match.
- First 4 overs: A maximum of 2 fielders are allowed outside the 30 yards
- Time Restrictions for Overs
Each game will be 10 overs each side (Subjected to change)- Teams have 40 minutes to bowl 10 In the first innings, the calculation of the number of overs to be bowled shall be based on one over for every full 4 minutes in the total time available for play up to the scheduled close of play. In the second innings of the match, overs shall be reduced at a rate of one over for every full 4 minutes lost due to rain during the first innings.
- If the team batting second is allotted fewer overs than the team batting first, then the winning target will be reduced in proportion to the reduction in the overs using the Run Rate of the team batting first.
- Penalties for slow over rates
The Over Rate of one over per four minutes will be used to determine how much time each team gets to finish their overs.- Team Bowling first
The team bowling first gets 40 minutes to bowl 10 overs based on 4 minutes per over. The team bowling first must begin the 10th over no later than the last minute of their allotted time. If this is not the case, the batting side will be awarded 6 runs for every over that was not bowled in time. The umpire will award the penalty by signalling to the scorer the amount of penalty to be added to the scorecard immediately at the end of the scheduled innings close time. The bowling team will continue to bowl until they have finished their 10 overs. - Team Bowling Second
The team bowling second must begin the last over no later than the last minute of their allotted time (calculated at 4 minutes per over). If this is not the case, the batting side will be awarded 6 runs for every over that was not bowled in time. The umpire will award the penalty by signalling to the scorer the amount of penalty to be added to the scorecard immediately at the end of the scheduled innings close time. The bowling team will continue to bowl until they have finished their 10 overs. If the penalty results in the score of the team batting second being higher than the team batting first, the game is finished.

The incoming batsman should be already walking in at the fall of the wicket and should be in a position to take strike by the time the outgoing batsman leaves the playing area (The maximum time allowed is 90 seconds). - The Result
Each side must have faced (or had the opportunity to face) FIVE overs to constitute a match. - Duckworth Lewis
The umpire or Scorer will have to do the necessary Calculations using a Mobile or Laptop device. - Tied Games
- A tied game will be decided by the One Over Per Side Eliminator
Each team will nominate three batsmen and one bowler to play a one-over per side match. In turn, each side bats one over bowled by the one nominated opposition bowler, with their innings over if they lose two wickets before the over is completed. The side with the higher score from their One Over Per Side Eliminator wins. - Net Run rate
A team’s net run rate is calculated by deducting from the average runs per over scored by that team the average runs per over scored against that team.
- A tied game will be decided by the One Over Per Side Eliminator
- The umpire’s decision will be the Final decision, and no arguments are allowed.
- Misbehaviour with the umpire or organizing staff will result in disqualification.
Final and Semi-finals:
- Each game will be 12 overs on each side.
- Number of Overs per Bowler
- all rules are counted by the total number of over counts.
General Instructions
- Please Submit all your documents before the match electronically. No physical copies please unless of emergency
- All team players should reach the ground 15 minutes before their game time.
- If less than 8 players are present at the time of the game, team will be disqualified.
- If rain affects the game, overs can be revised according to the time constraint.
- All player/teams are responsible for bringing their face masks.
- Players must bring their own bats and accessories.
- No garbage/litter allowed on or around the ground. In case of any garbage, teams will have to clean up after each game
- All teams and all players are responsible to read, consent and responsible to comply with City of Ottawa and Cricket Ontario’s playing protocols as well as sign Vedic Sanskruti waiver form.
- Individuals may bring packed food/snack if they wish.
- Trophies will be provided to Winner and Runner up. In addition, additional trophies/medals and other prizes may be provided at the sole discretion of management.
- Any type of shorts is not allowed. Wearing Shoes is required. Slippers or barefoot not allowed.
- Registration fee is non-refundable in any condition.
